CESAR V. VILLAFUERTE JR. MD, MHA, FPCS, FPSO-HNS
Overall Chair, 3rd AFPSS Congress
President, ASEAN Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery

My Dear Colleagues:

It is my distinct honor to invite you all to attend the 3rd AFPSS Congress to be held in the world famous Island of Boracay. The organizing committee headed by overall Conference Chairman Dr. Cesar Villafuerte and Co-chair Dr. Eduardo Yap has prepared for us a comprehensive scientific program that promises to be rewarding not only to those among us who practice facial plastic surgery but also to our colleagues who seek to widen their knowledge in our specialty. The holding of this international convention in our country is timely as we seek to prove to our colleagues outside our specialty that truly facial plastic surgery is integral to the practice of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.

The Board of Trustees of the PSO-HNS is fully supportive of this worthy endeavour and enjoins all our fellows, diplomates and residents to participate and register early to this congress.

Cesar Anthony P. Yabut, MD
President, PSO-HNS

As secretary-general, it is my distinct honor and pleasure to welcome you all to the 3rd Asian Facial Plastic Surgery Society Congress. I offer my sincere congratulations to my esteemed colleagues in the Philippine Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (PSO-HNS) and the Philippine Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (PAFPRS) for their outstanding organizational work.

Today we find ourselves in one of the most beautiful places in the world, Boracay! This island was a filming place of a World War II movie of 1970“Too late the hero” where Michael Caine starred. With its fine, powdery white sands, beautiful people and glorious sunsets, this is the perfect setting to talk about the Asian perspectives on facial beauty. The concept of beauty is an ever-changing dynamic which differs remarkably from one hemisphere to another. Some western surgeons tout themselves as experts on Asian plastic surgery but I ask you: Who better deals the Asian beauty than Asians themselves?

In this beautiful island, in a casual setting, we will put politics aside and gather to expand our knowledge, to share information and friendship, to strengthen network between members, and eventually to make the vision of our society become realized. Let’s listen to other people’s wisdom with an open mind and it will nourish our lives as well as our knowledge.

Thank you all for being here today. I congratulate again Dr. Cesar Villafuerte and the members of the Organizing Committee and the PSO-HNS and PAFPRS for this wonderful success in this beautiful setting.
